Study Objectives

If all of the elements of this lesson plan are employed, students will develop the following powers, skills, and understanding:

    Students will be introduced to critiques of colonialism from the point-of-view of the colonized and gain a deeper understanding about the implications of colonialism.

    Students will engage in critical conversations about sex, sexuality, sexual assault, and trauma.

  3. 3

    Students will be able to identify various literary devices in the novel and utilize them in their own original writing.

  4. 4

    Students will write a critical book review.
