Michael Vey: Storm of Lightning is a young adult science fiction novel written by Richard Paul Evans and published by Simon Pulse/Mercury Ink in September of 2016. It is the fifth installment in a seven-part series (Michael Vey) that revolves around young adults with various impressive electric powers, blending science fiction and fantasy. The series was completed in 2017 with the publication of Michael Vey: The Final Spark.
This novel begins immediately after the end of the previous one, with Ben leading the Electroclan to the demolished Timepiece Ranch. They discover that Hatch's mission failed; no one was inside at the time of the attack. Hatch, however, seems unfazed by his failure and the liberation of Jade Dragon; he instead begins to enact his plan of taking over the island nation of Tuvalu. The major conflict in this plot is the Electroclan attempting to stop this takeover.
Michael Vey: Hunt for Jade Dragon has not won any independent literary awards. It does, however, continue to be a widely-read installment in a highly popular series for young adult readers, as evidenced by its sales and initial reception. It is, in addition, part of an award-winning and best-selling series (Michael Vey) that has reached readers around the world.
