Night (originally published in French as La Nuit) has sold millions of copies and has been published in twenty-five languages since its first printing in 1958. The book tells the story of the young Elie Wiesel, a Hungarian Hasidic Jew and devoted student of the Kabbalah, who in 1944 at the age of fifteen is transported, along with his family, to a series of Nazi-run concentration camps, among them Auschwitz and Buchenwald.
