Babbitt

wound (somebody) with a bayonet (a long knife fastened to the end of a rifle)

tie up the wings and legs of (a chicken or other flying creature) before cooking.

(of a creepy crawly or land and water proficient) having experienced transformation, particularly into the grown-up structure.

rueful

communicating distress or lament, particularly in a wry or comical way

talismanic

relating to or of the idea of a talisman or talismans, an object (such as a ring or stone) that is believed to have magic powers and to cause good things to happen to the person who has it

apotheosis

the most noteworthy point in the improvement of something; a perfection or peak

analgesia

the powerlessness to feel torment

denizen

an individual, creature, or plant that lives or is found in a specific place.
