This documentary is about the life and career of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who was the second female Supreme Court justice. Released in 2018, it was directed and produced by Betsy West and Julie Cohen.
It generally received positive reviews, for its moving and informative depiction of the late icon's life and legacy. The documentary was nominated for the Best Documentary Feature and Best Original Song at the 91st Academy Awards, as a testament to West and Cohen's directorial talents.
Both Cohen and West had previously worked on film projects about Ginsburg, and so they were both informed and interested in her life and story. In 2015, the pair decided they would like to make a documentary about her life, focusing on her primarily. As part of this project, they filmed Ginsburg around to meetings and speeches in 2016. In 2017, they then held face-to-face interviews with Ginsburg, gaining an insight into her thoughts about the key events in her life, and her achievements.
