Seabiscuit (2003 Film) Irony

The Future

Howard sees that cars are the future of America and he makes a fortune selling them. Ironically, his son is killed in an automobile as he learns to drive it as a child, and takes it out by himself and gets into an accident that claims his life.

Tijuana

Howard goes to Mexico in order to forget about the pain of the loss of his son and in order for the divorce with his wife to be finalized. Ironically, he also meets his new love and wife, Marcela.

Sleeping

Seabiscuit is a small horse that spends most of his days sleeping in a field. He's considered lazy. Ironically, he becomes the greatest horse to ever race once trained by Tom.

Soup

We watch as Red tries not to eat the soup given to him in the Howard home. He says that it is too much food. Ironically, he doesn't eat it for two reasons: he doesn't want to gain too much weight, as he's used to being rejected for being too heavy to ride; second--during the Depression having any food was a luxury, so having a lot meant that he knew he had far more than those starving around him.
