Non-racist
Kendi shows that although we often see people in terms of "racist" or "not racist," it is actually more complicated. Kendi argues that if someone is not actively anti-racist, they are effectively allowing racism to continue. As such, even people who do not act in a racist or discriminatory way are still contributing towards racism.
Contemporary society
Although we might believe that society becomes more progressive as time continues, Kendi argues this isn't necessarily the case. For example, the American public voted for Donald Trump, who is the "candidate of angry bigots," according to Kendi. Additionally, just as progressive thought evolves, Kendi argues that racism evolves alongside it and has new ways of expressing itself.
