Stardust is a fantasy romance novel written and published in 1977 by Neil Gaiman. the book as published by DC Comics and written as a pre-Tolkien English fantasy. The illustrations were done by Charles Vess.

The story revolves around the adventures of Tristran Thorn and a fallen star, Yvaine, he is intent on capturing as a present for his love, Victoria. However, he encounters many challenges in his quest. This comes mainly in the form of the Witch-Queen who is intent on having Yvaine’s heart for herself in order provide her everlasting youth. Tristan also finds out more about his birthweight and who he really is in the process of this book.

The book has been highly praises, with The Guardian stating that it was a “fairy tale about a young man's hunt for his heart's desire, told in clear, rolling prose.” A film adaptation was realized in 2007, with a large ensemble cast including, Claire Danes, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Robert De Niro. The movie received mostly positive reviews and earned $137 million USD at the box office.
