Therapy Session with Shadrack

Structure:

We know from the beginning of the novel that Shadrack experienced extreme violence and trauma in the war. We also know that he never received the mental healthcare necessary to return to society as a functioning member. Divide students into pairs and explain that they will be conducting a therapy session with Shadrack after he witnesses the events described in Year 1941. Assign one student in each pair to the role of the therapist and the other to the role of Shadrack.
