Chapter 3 - Attitudes and Job Satisfaction - Questions For Review - Page 84: 3-6

Answer

Job satisfaction or more specifically dissatisfaction can lead to four results. Exit, voice, loyalty, or neglect are the four results of dissatisfaction. Exit is when an employee leaves. Voice is when they try to improve conditions. Loyalty is when they passively wait for the situation to improve. Neglect is when they do not care and it can result in lower job performance. These results can be very bad for management because in most cases nothing is brought to their attention or improved upon.

Work Step by Step

Understanding that unhappy employees may not try to help the organization unless they are having a voice result is key to management. Companies need to be self-critical to maintain employee satisfaction or else they may have high turnover rates.
