In order to get the y value what we can do is to simply plug in the x value we get from setting the two equations equal to each other and solving for x in either of the equation. For example, equation one y=x+5 and equation 2 y= -x+2. x+5=-x+2. Now, take all the x terms on one side and solve for x. Here x= -3/2. When we plug in that into either equation we get y=7/2 .
