The rectangular coordinate system is a visual representation of real numbers on a 2D plane. It exists of an origin (0,0). and two axes - x-axis & y-axis. Normally the horizontal axis is the x-axis and the vertical axis is the y-axis. The intersection of these two axes is called the Origin which is denoted by (0,0) since both x=0 and y=0 at the origin. Any real number can be plotted on this system.
