The limbic system includes a number of structure that form a ring on the inner border of the cerebrum and the floor of the diencephalon. The main structures in the system are the amygdala, the dentate gyrus, the septal nuclei, the olfactory bulbs, and the mammillary bodies of the hypothalamus. The linked fornix, stria terminalis, medial forebrain bundle are also included in the limbic system and so is the mammillothalamic tract.
