Some bacteria are pathological and cause several infectious diseases. But some are part of our essential microbiome and live in our GI tract and other parts of our body. We can't maintain perfect health without them. The first kind caused Mr. Shipla's bladder infection, and they were promptly dispatched by treatment with an antibiotic.
