In human beings the inheritance of stature or height involves complex inheritance processes. For instance, one's height is determined partly by one's genotype, but nutrition --particularly during growth spurts-- and disease also have significant effects on the height an adolescent eventually attains as an adult. A diet with a proper mix of proteins, vitamins, and minerals is necessary if a child is to attain his/her genetic potential for saturtue. In this connection adequate dietary amounts of Vitamin D and calcium are of particular relevance.
