Answer

Cytosol is the fluid portion of the mammalian cell. It is mostly water ( ca. 85%), but contains several substances in solution, as well as particles and aggregates.: These are some of the ions are usually found in mammalian cytosol: Na+, K+, Cl-, Ca++, Mg++ , HCO3-. Other common solutes of cytosol include proteins, amino acids, and glucose . Example s of these proteins are ribosomal proteins, pyruvate kinase, calcium binding protein, Aldolse A, lactate dehydrogenase, and ubiquitin. Some substances are not in solution but are present as particles and aggregates; for example, glycogen, pigments and P bodies (associated with microtubles function and mitosis). In addition to carbon dioxide some waste products that may be found in cytosol are nitrites, sulfides, methane and lactic acid.

Work Step by Step

Some descriptions of cytosol conceive of it as containing cell organelles and tubular structural components. But this treatment excludes organelles, and focuses on the fluid pat of the cytoplasm its solutes and suspensions.
