The highest point of the shoulder is the acromion of the scapula. The bony ridge or spine of the scapula crosses the flat triangular part of the bone . At the lateral end of the spine the bone forms an expanded and flattened process called the acromion. This is the highest point of the shoulder and can be easily felt .

The acromion is a flattened expansion of the spine of the scapula. It is located at the lateral end of the shoulder joint. It is the highest point in the shoulder and can be palpated without difficulty in most subjects of normal weight. Laterally, the acromion articulates with the scapula at the acromio- clavicular joint. Medially the clavicle articulates with the sternum at the sternoclavicular joint.
