Brucellosis is a zoonotic disease that occurs because of the consumption of undercooked meat or unpasteurized milk from infected animals. It is caused by a nonmotile gram-negative bacteria called Brucella. Signs and symptoms of the disease include a high spiking fever that occurs every afternoon, myalgia, chills, sweating, and weight loss.
