Toxoplasmosis is an infectious disease caused by the parasite Toxoplasma gondii. It is spread by ingestion of poorly cooked meat containing cysts or exposure to contaminated soil or cat litter. Signs and symptoms usually occur in immunocompromised patients and include a headache, fever, blindness, malaise, inflammation of the liver, lungs, and heart.
