Work Step by Step

Cis and trans isomers of 1,2-dimethylcyclohexane are written below. Three no. of cyclic structural isomers are possible having formula $C_{4}H_{7}F$ which are: 1-fluoromethylcyclopropane, 2-fluoro-1-methylcyclopropane and 1-fluorocyclobutane. Of them, 2-fluoro-1-methylcyclopropane shows cis-trans isomerism. All isomers are written below: For cyclic alkane cis trans isomerism is possible because free rotation is not possible for cyclic alkane due to strain. So, due to restricted rotation of single bond in cycloalkane, they can participate in Cis-trans isomerism. Follow the below figure to understand the difference between up bond and down bond in cycloalkanes which participate in cis-trans isomerism.
