Look at the below figure. Here, we can see that primary alcohol is oxidized into carboxylic acid where $-CH_{2}OH$ group of primary alcohol converts to $-COOH$ group. For secondary alcohol the final product is a ketone when oxidized. Here, $-CH(OH)$ group present in secondary alcohol converts to $-CO-$ group. Tertiary alcohols do not participate in this type of oxidation.
