Problems that may arise in increasing food production are diminishing and overused soil and water resources. Farmers tend to increase the use of fertilizer to increase the productivity of land. However, excess fertilizer may pollute the soil and water. Food security may not be possible through increasing food production alone but anticipating and adjusting with the effects of climate change may help.
