Does Junior perceive himself to be inferior to the write students at Reardan? What statements does he make that would serve as evidence? Does his opinion of himself (in relation to his peers) change during this section of the book?
Students may cite one or more of the many references Junior makes to his "racial inferiority complex." Just a few of the many examples: he calls himself the loser Indian son of a loser Indian father on page 55, he tells us "Indians don't deserve shit" on page 56, and on page 46 he tells us that the white students at Reardan are "the smartest and most athletic kids anywhere" and "the best."
