How has Aeneas changed by the time of Book 7? Is he a better, more heroic character than before? Why or why not?
This thought question serves as a follow-up of sorts to the question from Day 2 about Aeneas's virtuousness. In Book 7 and afterward, some students may find that they see Aeneas beginning to come into his own as a "hero." His virtues are not only about chasing after a destiny decreed to him by fate, but also about being a leader in a potentially explosive political situation. Other students may see Aeneas growing in the respect that he has more mastery over his internal emotional struggles.
