Before reading The Ambassadors, it is likely that students will only have read The Turn of the Screw, if they have read any other works by Henry James at all. Since both of these works are acknowledged to form a part of James's "late" period, the teacher can scaffold off students' knowledge of the text while teaching The Ambassadors.
