Structure:

History plays a significant role in The Chosen. Much of the reading from this section is about Jewish history in particular. Mr. Malter serves as a guide for both Reuven and Danny and fills the reader in on much of the important historical background that serves as a backdrop for the novel’s events. This activity asks students to grapple with their understanding of this history.
