Alicia Donadio

In the previous book, Alicia was bitten by a viral and infected as well as raped. She gives birth to a stillborn child and spends two years recovering from her misfortunes. She's determined to kill Zero, so she prepares for a final showdown with him. She's a skilled fighter and passionate about the cause.

Subject Zero

Originally named Tim Fanning, Zero joined Jonas Lear's initiative as a last resort. He fell in love with this girl in college who had cancer, Liz. After promising to move to Europe with him, she never showed for her flight. Tim became depressed and gave up, getting into an altercation with this other woman and killing her. In order to avoid arrest for the murder, he approaches Lear. In the program, Zero is the only one to survive the infection and retain human form. Now his goal is to destroy Amy, the prophesied savior of humanity. He will stop at nothing to accomplish world domination.

Michael Fisher

Michael is determined to ensure the survival of humanity. He's heard rumors of a safe haven somewhere in the Atlantic. He undertakes a project to convert and prepare a freight liner to save 600 people or so. He tries to align himself with Peter's political power, but it's a long and frustrating enterprise.

Amy

Amy is a viral who has been prophesied to save humanity. She is the only one capable of defeating Zero at this point. With Lucius Greer's help, she is kept safe from hurting anybody along with Peter. Eventually she regains human form and her consciousness in order to defeat Zero, which she does according to plan.

Peter Jaxon

Ex-military, Peter is tired of the active lifestyle. He lives in Kerrvile in relative anonymity with his nephew until he accepts a position working for the president. Eventually he becomes the new president of the Republic of Texas. He is a fearless leader who prefers direct, aggressive tactics.
