The movie adaptation of The Death Cure is scheduled to be released on January 12, 2018. Although it was anticipated to come out in 2017 (following the year-by-year model of other action series adaptations), its release date was pushed back due to adaptation work and an injury suffered by lead actor Dylan O'Brien on set. Dylan O'Brien will play the protagonist Thomas, as he did in the first and second installments of The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials respectively.
The Death Cure film adaptation will also be directed by Wes Ball.
