    What do you think of Frank Geyer's detective tactics? What information did he have access to that previous police didn't have?

    Although his entrance is late in the book, Detective Frank Geyer is certainly the hero at the end. Much of the last part of the work is dedicated to the pursuit of Holmes, or, rather, the truth of what Holmes did to Pitezel’s children. It is riveting in way true-crime thrillers are, with the newly introduced Geyer standing in for every dogged, intelligent, and stubborn pursuer of evil. Holmes stays maniacally charming and twisted up until the very end, demonstrating a pathological need to charm and manipulate as many people as possible.
