Objective:

To understand imagery by using it in a creative writing exercise.

Structure:

Mansfield uses imagery in several stories to emphasize character traits, plot developments, and/or themes. Have students write a short story in which they use imagery to emphasize someone's state of mind, the relationship between characters (as in Mr. & Mrs. Dove), or a broader theme developing in the story.
