    Look at the scene between Megan and Kamal on pp. 285-6. Where have you seen this interaction before? Is this different than you were anticipating?

    Readers will recognize this scene as the one that Rachel observed from the train early in the novel--prompting her to become involved in Megan's murder investigation to begin with.

    Now that the reader finally knows what is happening in this exchange that Rachel observed from afar, it may be different from what was anticipated. This meeting between Megan and Kamal turns out to be relatively innocent, and it is not directly related to her disappearance.
