Blondie
Portrayed by Clint Eastwood, the character is also known as the Man with the No Name and The Good. Basically he knows in whose grave a cache of stolen gold lies hidden, just waiting to be discovered. Unfortunately, knowing the grave is useless when you do not know the location of the graveyard.
Tuco
Tuco is the Ugly of the title. His situation is exactly the opposite of Blondie’s. He knows the graveyard where the gold lies buries, but does not know which specific grave to dig into. Digging into them all one at a one time is out of the questions, of course, so he enters into collaborative relationship with Blondie that can only be described-at best—as tenuous and suspicious.
Angel Eyes
Mercenary. Psychopathic or maybe sociopathic. Hard to tell the difference, really and, in fact, he may be both. He will eventually also learn the whereabouts the hidden gold after “extreme interrogation” techniques applies to Tuco while captured while posing as a Confederate “soldier.” This “sharing” of information leads to an actual, genuine, definitive Mexican Standoff in which, curiously, Angel Eyes is the only real loser.
Father Pablo Ramirez
The Ugly’s real name is Tuco Benedicto Pacífico Juan María Ramírez. Pablo Ramirez is not Tuco’s father; he is Tuco’s brother. But he is still a father. In the hierarchy of the Catholic Church.
