Rewriting The Island
Kind of Activity:
Collaborative Writing
Objective:
Students will write their own version of The Island drawing on modern-day examples of political prisoners, civil disobedience, and moral vs. legal clashing.
Common Core Standards:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.9-10.3
Structure:
Students will have an opportunity to re-write The Island drawing on the experiences of more contemporary activists and political prisoners that have also been punished for doing something that society has largely deemed morally correct or rooted in civil disobedience.
