    An Intro to Gothic Literature

    Research

    Objective:

    Students will research and write about Gothic literature.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RH.11-12.2

    Structure:

    Students have seen The Mysteries of Udolpho referred to as a Gothic novel several times so far. Before continuing further in our study of the novel, students will familiarize themselves with what, exactly, that means. Begin by dividing students into small groups of 3-4. Each group is tasked with researching and reporting on a broad overview of what we mean when we refer to Gothic literature, and how that affected novels that came out during the time.
