Rachel the Family’s Matriarch
Rachel is the matriarch of the Swart family. She is terminally ill, and she is cared for by her maid Salome. When Rachel realizes that Salome is extremely hardworking and diligent in her duties, she decides that the family should award her a house on the farm. Rachel talks to her husband, Manie, about her feelings, and he promises that he will gift Salome with a house within the firm. However, Manie never keeps his promise.
Manie
Manie is Rachel's husband and father to Anton, Astrid and Amor. After Rachel's death, Manie refuses to honor his promise and the entire family is cursed with mysterious deaths occurring at the intervals of ten years. Ten years after the death of his wife, Manie dies from a snake bite.
Salome
Salome is the housemaid in the Swart family whose hard work is appreciated and recognized by Rachel before she dies.
Amor
Amor is the youngest child of Rachel and Manie. She is a sister to Astrid and Anton. Amor is the only one who overhears her parent's discussion about the promise made to gift Salome a house. After the entire family dies mysteriously at the intervals of ten years, Salome survives because she insists that Salome should be given the house. At last, Amor gives the house to Salome despite her being old when she takes ownership.
Astrid
Astrid is Amor's and Anton's middle sister and daughter to Manie and Rachel. She is killed by a carjacker who tries to steal her car.
Anton
Anton is the eldest Swart sibling, and he is about to finish his mandatory services with the military. In 2017, Antony killed himself using his father's gun after realizing that his life was useless.
Desiree
Desiree is Anton's youthful girlfriend, whom he later marries. Desiree lives with her husband, Anton, on the Swart family farm.
Lukas
Lukas is Salome's son, and he scorns Amor's gesture of giving Salome the ownership of the house at her old age, claiming that his mother will not enjoy the benefits.
