What is the point of having signs with historical events on them throughout the play?
The signs that Brecht has written into the play parallel the action of the play with the actual events that occurred during Adolf Hitler's rise to power in 1930s Germany and Europe. Brecht is showing the audience that he has created a satirical comedy only because of the horrible reality of what occurred in the very recent past.

Why does Ui kill Ernesto Roma?
Roma is Arturo Ui's right hand man and his best friend; he would die for Ui and does everything in order to ensure Ui's rise to power. But Ui kills him because the city of Cicero won't allow Ui to rule there if Roma is with him. The city despises Roma as a corrupt man, thus Ui has him murdered in order to take control of the city.

What is the irony of the actor teaching Arturo?
Ui has hired an actor who is versed in the work of Shakespeare to teach him how to speak, walk, stand and sit in order to assert his power in a room. The irony of it is first, that the man teaching him is a failed actor. And secondly, Hitler himself hired an actor in order to help him in presenting himself and making speeches.
