Morris Magellan
Morris is the main character in the book. He has a good job and family but he is an alcoholic. Morris believes that he has control over his drinking ways because his work is perfect. Indeed, he claims that so long as the alcohol does not affect his job, he is not supposed to stop drinking. According to Morris, alcohol is a solution rather than a problem. Morris’ friends and business colleagues are appalled by his behavior but he seems less bothered.
Mary Morris
Mary is married to Morris. Actually, she is a strong woman because she tolerates Morris with his terrible behavior. Morris is less concerned with what people say about him because he knows his wife and children love him. Mary is depicted as a loyal and loving wife. Many women cannot cordon the behavior displayed by Morris but Mary decides to understand him.
Elise Morris
Elise is the daughter of Morris and Mary. Elise loves her father despite his appalling misdemeanor. Occasionally, Morris takes her out. This action makes her love her father. The relationship between Elise and her father is cordial. Indeed, their relationship is not like that of Morris and his father, which was troubled. Elise and her mother tolerate Morris and love him despite his horrendous behavior.
Morris’ Father
Morris’ father contributed to his awful behavior. Morris’ father used to take his son out when he was young. However, Morris was scared of his father. In one instance, Morris’ father is sitting in an armchair but Morris fears getting in the room. This shows that Morris felt guilt around his father. During his death, Morris was partying.
