The Underground Railroad Lesson Plan

Bringing in Technology

Throughout the study of The Underground Railroad, students with disabilities should have the option of using dictation software for writing assignments, and text-to-speech software for reading assignments, or any other ADA-mandated technological accommodations.

In the Day 1 activity “Researching the Underground Railroad,” students will use Canva, Glogster, Prezi, or Sutori to do research.

In the Day 3 activity “Abolitionist for a Day,” students may use Twitter to write a Twitter essay.

In the Day 3 activity “Putting Texts in Conversation,” students will use Google Docs to do some collaborative writing.
