How are these Quartets related to the other poems you have read in this unit?
Some students may observe that a sense of faith seems to drive these two poems, à la "Ash Wednesday." Some might observe that while "The Waste Land" portrays almost unending chaos, "Burnt Norton" and "East Coker" seem to be driven by a sense of order—both structurally within the poem and in terms of the content. There is stillness in the Quartets that connects to the stillness in "Ash Wednesday," a stillness that would be almost impossible to find in the ever-moving worlds of "The Hollow Men" and "The Waste Land."
