    Sid waves the toothbrush to show that he's not involved with the men at the airport, but it only signals how out of place he is in Manila. As the story goes on, the toothbrush shows the opposite of what he intended, not that he isn't involved, but rather that he cannot help but be caught up in the world around him, despite his lack of understanding.
