The Woman Who Had Two Navels and Tales of the Tropical Gothic contains most of Nick Joaquin's most influential works, but it isn't exhaustive. Consider looking at Joaquin's other works, including the play A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino or his late-period novel Cave and Shadow. Joaquin is just one of the important Filipino authors writing in English. Some other highlights include the autobiographical novel America Is in the Heart by Carlos Busalon, The Pretenders by Francisco Sionil Jose, or The Revolution According to Raymundo Mata by Gina Apostol. These works take a different perspective on the country's Spanish past and post-colonial position.
