Three Tall Women Imagery

Three Tall Women Imagery

Happy Times

The imagery at the end of the play has C asking when the happy times to come will be? B says that the happiest times are being the 52 year old version with a 360 degree view. A tells her that the happiest moment is the end. The imagery evokes the feeling of hopelessness at becoming happy.

Wealthy Bedroom

The play is set in a "wealthy" bedroom. The imagery evokes the sense that this woman has had a good life. But, the image becomes empty when we see that the nice things she has do not represent true happiness from a fulfilled life.

The Son

The Son comes into the play in Act II. The imagery of him with his mother represents an unfinished relationship, one that never really ever began as each person was too stubborn to even begin to speak of the hardships of their relationship.

A

In Act II A is seen as a mannequin in the bed on stage. The imagery evokes a fourth character in the same woman, D we will call her. D becomes the image of death. Her mouth and nose are covered with a breathing mask. The image of her represents where they are going, and thus where we all go. That death is inevitable and must be considered in order to have a complete understanding of how to live.
