An unpopular tax levied in Great Britain loosely based on the price of a person's home and not on what they actually used. It was so unpopular that it's introduction saw riots in protest

Made to last an unnatural length of time

Small private hotel usually attached to some kind of pup or hostelry

A metal structure used for animal feed

Singular of Cherubim; a cherub was a Heavenly being who was a direct attendant to God

For Love Nor Money

A task that is not able to be accomplished "for love nor money" is an impossible task. Something that cannot be done "for love nor money" is un-doable.

After

In the context of the poem, to be after something is to be wanting something but not directly asking for it; it is to get something that one wants using sneaky or manipulative means

A college student who has almost, or just recently, graduated
