The narrator
The narrator is an unnamed woman married to John. The narrator is an English Professor at the Liberal Arts College. She is 50 years old but still looks pretty and attractive. However, her husband is no longer interested in her and has multiple sexual affairs with college girls. The narrator knows her husband is cheating, but she avoids the topic because they are in an open relationship. When Vladimir is recruited into the college, the narrator takes advantage of and initiates a sexual relationship with him.
John (The Head of the English Department)
John is the narrator's husband, and the professor heading the English Department. John is the worst sexual predator at Liberal Arts College. The narrator knows her husband has multiple sexual affairs with young college girls, but she does not stop him. In the wake of the #MeToo campaign, students protested to have John kicked out of college.
Vladimir
Vladimir is a newly recruited professor at the Liberal Arts College. The narrator describes Vladimir as a handsome man whom any woman cannot ignore and look at twice or thrice. Vladimir has come with his young wife and a child. However, this does not prevent the narrator from secretly dying to have him. The narrator says that she dressed to attract Vladimir. At last, she succeeded in having a secretive affair with him.
Students
The students at the Liberal Arts College are aggrieved characters because male professors demand sex in exchange for better grades. Female students are the most affected because if they refuse to cooperate with sexual predators, they fail their exams. The students get fed up at the peak of the #MeToo campaign and protest the removal of the narrator's husband, the worst sexual predator.
