Ronke
Ronke is the protagonist, and she is a childhood friend to Simi and Boo, all living in London with Nigerian roots. Ronke is a dentist by profession, and she is single. She only dates men from Nigeria and looks forward to getting a Nigerian husband. Ronke's long-term boyfriend is Kayode, a Nigerian man living in London.
Ronke adores her Nigerian heritage, and she is close with her father's relatives in Nigeria. Ronke's mother is a white woman, but she wants to live a Nigerian way. Ronke loves Kayode and hopes that one day he will become her husband. However, Boo and Simi do not like Kayode, though they do not reveal their reasons.
Boo
Boo is a research scientist and a close friend of Simi and Ronke. Like Ronke, Boo's mother is a white woman, but her father is a Nigerian. Boo is married to a French man, and she has a daughter. Consequently, Boo is living Ronke's dream because she looks forward to settling down with a husband and child. Simi hates Ronke's Nigerian boyfriend for no apparent reason.
Simi
Simi does fashion marketing and is married to a husband who pressures her to have a child. However, Simi is not ready to have a child with a long-distance husband and prefers to use pills to prevent her from becoming pregnant. Martin thinks Simi is pregnant, but she secretly uses pills to avoid getting pregnant because she is not ready.
Isobel
Isobel is a rich Russian-Nigerian girl who comes into the lives of Boo, Simi, and Ronke to destabilize their relationship. Isobel lives lavishly, and she influences the three friends to choose a life they are not used to. Boo is the first to be influenced by Isobel's lavish shopping, and she uses her cards to shop for everything that interests her. Simi follows suit, and they start disrespecting Ronke. Ronke is jealous of her friends, and their close knit-friendship crumbles.
Kayode
Kayode is Ronke's Nigerian boyfriend. However, he does not show commitment in their relationship, which worries Ronke. For undisclosed reasons, Simi and Boo do not like Kayode.
Martin
Martin is Simi's boyfriend, who lives far away from her, but they regularly meet. Martin longs to have a child with Simi, but she plays games because she wants to be single and childless for the time being. Therefore, Simi uses pills to prevent her from becoming pregnant whenever she sleeps with Martin.
