    Kind of Activity:

    Group Work

    Objective:

    Students will understand the idea of identity by exploring Sal's identity along with their own.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.7.1

    Structure:

    Write "Identity" on the board and ask students to come up with a definition for the word. For example: Identity: The set of qualities that make a person who they are.

    Have the students offer examples of categories that people often use to define themselves such as gender, age, socio-economic class, heritage, or religion.
