‘Organizational Politics’ - “The Profession and Vocation of Politics”

Weber elucidates, “ As in any other organisation, the administrative staff, which is the outward organisational form taken by political rule, is of course not bound in obedience to the holder of power solely by that notion of legitimacy…it is also bound by the two means which appeal to self-interest; material reward and social honor.” The imagery of organisational governance validates how staff would endeavour to defend the treats that are intrinsic in their roles. The administrative staff utilize camaraderie to warranty that their privileges will not be destabilized.

Manors - “The Nation State and Economic Policy”

Weber expounds, “The manors of the east were the bases of the ruling class of Prussia, which was dislocated and scattered over the countryside, and they were the social point of contact for the officials. Wirth the decay of these estates, however, with the disappearance of the social character of the old landed nobility, the centre of gravity of the political intelligentsia is shifting irresistibly to the cities. This shift is the decisive political factor in the agrarian development of eastern Germany.” The manors, prior to their deterioration, exemplified enormous fiscal and political vigour because they were administered by the elite. The ‘ruling class’ manipulate their political power to conquer financial competitiveness. The manors’ downfall embodies a fragmentation of both financial and political clout.
