Narrator
The narrator of the short poem "When I Die I Want Your Hands On My Eyes" describes in details the wishes for his death. Rather than something noble or violent, he prefers passing away calmly with his lover's hands over his eyes. He states that he wants the things that he loves, such as his lover, to continue living, and that with their hands over his eyes, dying would be like a breath of fresh air. The narrator tells his lover that he will wait for them when he passes away, quietly staying in the background until his life may resume to its fullest.
Narrator's Lover
"When I Die I Want Your Hands On My Eyes" is told from the point of view of the narrator, who describes his lover as something to be cherished. From his description, we can assume that he is deeply in love with this person, as he states that he would like to die with them at his side. The lover continues to live on after the narrator's death, but this is not a bad thing for either of them. He and his lover will still cherish memories and believe they will see each other once again.
