White Fragility Irony

White Fragility Irony

The paradox of modern racism

The sociologist Eduardo Bonilla-Silva remarkably defined the illogicality of modern bigotry in the Post-Civil Rights Movement. Despite most white Americans distancing themselves from being racists, racism is still widespread. In contemporary America, the concept of color-blind prejudice is unchecked because people pretend there is no bigotry. Still, in reality, it is practiced by the very people who talk against it. For instance, the Liberals' actions are entirely ironic because they do not demonstrate through actions that they embrace diversity. The neutrality of the liberals is questionable because despite publicly accepting that they are not racists, they have always remained silent on the issue of racism.

The Blind Side of Anti-Racist Film

The film The Blind Side's deconstruction reveals the irony of the fight against racism in America. The film's objective is to show that the anti-racist crusaders are the white saviors of Black characters. On the contrary, the deconstruction of the film shows that the deprived Black characters have to rely on generous white characters to exploit their potential fully. The irony also manifests in that the film avoids the issue of aversive racism. The issue of bigotry is discussed without directly linking it to racism.

The philosophical psychology of whiteness

According to the author, the development of the white fragility behavior is a continuous process in which white people believe that they are superior to other races. The author’s conclusion is supported by Joe Feagin, who introduced the phrase 'white racial frame,' which explains why white people are traditionally racist. Ironically, this profound psychology of the whites is hurting them more than it benefits them. For instance, the liberals deny their true identity by showing a fake face that they love Black people, but in reality, they are racists.
