White Fragility seeks to raise awareness of problematic, historic, systemic racial dynamics in the U.S. and across the globe. The book is aimed primarily at white readers with the goal of inviting whites to see past their group socialization and wake up to their racial identity. By challenging the dominant definition of racism as conscious, malicious acts of discrimination perpetrated by mean-spirited people who intend to cause harm to people of color, the book encourages whites to shift toward a perspective of accepting their inherent racism and welcoming feedback with gratitude.
